Someone asked me to post some pics of my Oslo install, so here goes...

Just bought the house last December. Built 1969. The fireplace had its very first fire ever after we moved in.

Got up on the roof and checked out chimney. About 17ft top to firebox floor. Perfect.

Brand new Oslo blue/black brought home in March. I was going back and forth with the Oslo and F55, but the F55 rear vent was all of 3/4" too high for the fireplace and I didn't want to go through the trouble of destroying the hearth. Oslo it is.

Purchased liner from Rockford. Had to cut out a bit of damper frame and knock out a few firebrick. Now it's pretty much a straight drop. The damper itself is a nice piece of cast iron with the company name cast in to it so I'm going to clean it up, paint it, and use it as a mantle heat shield.

Still have to stuff some Roxul in there and make a block off plate before sliding Oslo in to place. More to come...

That is looking good! A year from now, I will buy an Oslo.

You are well-organized and it looks like you are doing a real good job. Post more pics.

Great post & pics! That is a great looking stove. I've also got 17' from chimney top to firebox floor - did you have to buy a 20' liner or did the 15' just make it? Also, how are you extending the hearth?

Nice looking install so far, The blue/black is one of my personal favorites.

Very nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm cutting my floor for my hearth extension tomorrow for my Oslo install.

My long term plan, after the second floor is finished, is to move the Oslo to a central spot in the house with a straight shot stainless chimney, then demolish the fireplace and move the kitchen stove to that wall. The chimney leaks and needs to be repointed. The fireplace is ugly and a huge heat loss. I never lived in a house with a fireplace and always wanted one. Now I'd rather just get rid of it.

If you want to reduce the heat-loss through the fireplace I would take a look at this thread: https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/finally-got-around-to-insulating-my-fireplace.75755/page-2

Now just need to get a few friends over to lift the stove in to place.

R. . .

Now just need to get a few friends over to lift the stove in to place.

I found that offering free beer and pizza seems to have a certain amount of appeal when it comes to having them come over to help move heavy objects. :)

The install looks real neat. One thing, that screen opening on the cap looks small. Not the screen size, but the opening. Mine was bigger but got gummed up in a half year.
