new quad 5700 is in

I wanted to thank everyone for their advice on which stove to purchase. I originally was going to go with the 4300 flat top but questioned if it would be big enough. Thanks to the people on this forum, who provided real life experience instead of uneducated opinions, I made the correct decision.

This stove has been great, the clearances are better than that of the 4300 series, the box being bigger allows for easier size of wood and longer overnight burns. It has not been to much stove for my great room, which has 12' vaulted ceilings, which was a concern.

I will forward a photo of this stove and my pad when I learn how to do same. I also went with the nickel legs and door.

I am sure you will be happy with it. I know I am .
You get that thing cranking around 600 or so, and get the blower going she heat up that room in no time..
Do yourself a favor and find a dealer that makes his own "shotgun" brick. The brick with the holes in them, it will be MUCH cheaper to have them make it out of normal fire brick for that stove than to buy it from Quad themselves. Other than that enjoy your stove.

Congratulations Keller on the new stove. I also chose the nickel door trim and legs. It is very handsome. You will love the deep firebox. I also chose the 5700 over the 4300 step top and after nearly a year of operation haven't regretted it yet. Those new photos would be nice.

Smart move kellerclan5, that's what I wished we would have done. The 4300 is a very good stove but we have a humongous house. We're gonna keep checking the Pennysavers and likewise for s used 5700.

I will post pictures as soon as I learn how. I did not go with a blower because I heard they are loud. I also have two large ceiling fans which keep the air moving. Anyway as of last night neither my furnace nor heat pump had to engage with the temp at approx 25 degrees. I have a 3000 sq ft rancher. I cant believe with my house I was going to consider the smaller stove.

Good luck with the new 5700. I love the heat output and long burns with mine. I told the dealer if they made a bigger quad, I would've bought it...The 5700 is perfect though.

I was at the Quad dealer yesterday and asked how loud are the blowers. He pointed to the 5700 that was operating in the corner and said "that one's running now". I hadn't even noticed the sound. It wasn't much louder than a refridgerator. He kicked it up on high and then it was noticeable, a bit louder than a ceiling fan. I think you'd have to be quite noise sensesitve to be bothered by it running on low.

Yes, I was a little surprised by that statement too. In your livingroom you might want it on low while reading or watching quiet TV, but unless it's on high, the noise level seems reasonable to me.
