New to me used splitter

I wanted a splitter with a log lift and hydraulically adjustable 4 way wedge. I attempted to have Alex of A. E. Metawerx make a custom unit but could not get it done this year. Too bad as his are the nicest splitters I have ever seen. Anyway I picked up a used Iron & Oak Commercial unit with the above features used along with an auto cycle valve. Since this is the fast cycle version it is 22 ton. Honda GX 340 runs like a top.

I have had a Speeco 28 ton for several years that has been flawless. The only issue I see with the new one after using it today is it almost requires a helper to pull the wood off the end table to keep production up. Other wise after 15 minutes a big pile is on the ground and you have to stop and pick it up. I am not going to get an elevatorl

ar to yours...come splitting time we have 3 people on hand...one feeding the beast....one running controls and one clearing the table...you can flat split some wood! I am looking to buy a smaller elevator for stock piling.

I understand what your are saying but that would be another step. I park the splitter within a few feet of the rounds. The round is put on the splitter, worked up and then placed directly back in the row and stacked.

Very nice, looks like yours can be pulled on the road, I would not on mine with the tire and lack of a real axle.

The AllWood splitters are made in Milan Michigan...the owner was kind enough to meet me in Ohio...where I proceeded to pull it home at 70 mph...pulled like a dream with the heavy duty torsion axels under it..you could put a set of torsion axels under yours easily if you wanted to.

The unit I wanted has a torsion axle and large 15" tires that would be suited for highway speeds. To transport this one I hook up to the ATV and drive on the 18' trailer. It is easier to tie down like that too.

My buddy does that with his splitter..he purchased a receiver hitch from Rural King and welded it to the center of the front of trailer with a ball on top and d-rings at the back to secure it with ratchet straps...works pretty slick. He has a loading dock of sorts he made and pulls it onto the trailer.

The welded ball is a good idea for securing a load. However it would be pretty hard to do with this one because without a winch you could never get it up the ramps on the trailer. It weighs about 1360 #s. Once on the level ground it would be pretty hard to move too without the ATV.

I can relate to that as mine is a pretty heavy as well...All I use to move it is my 4 wheeler around the house and when I take it to the timber
