I have a few black locust trees on my property. One of them was fallen and dead when I took ownership and I've been slowly cutting and splitting pieces of it. Eventually I will get through the whole thing. That wood is so hard, especially after it's been dead for a while, it is not easy on my chainsaw. took almost an entire tank of gas to get 3 rounds cut off the bottom of it and I am constantly resharpening.
Great firewood, a load of that in my stove easily burns all night and leaves nice coals in the morning with very little ash.
