Hi all, Im new to this site. I just had a LOPI Freedom installed a couple weeks ago and i love it. Havent had my natural gas furnace on for a couple weeks. As the rise of gasoline, im sure its the same for natural gas. But anyways jsut wanted to say hi and looking foreward to some good readings on here.

Welcome! Nice insert, big window. What are you burning? Tell us about the installation and the space you're heating. And put your location in your profile so we know where you are. Again, welcome to the forums...and enjoy the heat. Rick

ETA: Whoops, I see you've got your location listed...nevermind. :-S

thanks Rick, well im burning primarily cherry. Also some maple and oak. I definitely see different burn times for each. I am heating a 2400 sq ft home. Its is a 2 story, so therefore im trying to figure out an idea for heat transfer to the upstairs which consists of 4 bedrooms and a bathroom. Ill set up my signature tomorrow with all the burner specs. I am seriously open to heat transfer ideas though. thanks

Jay

Put a little fan in the corner of the top of the stairway blowing the cold air at floor level down the stairs. It will be replaced with warn air going up over it up the stairs. Works wonders.

welcome jay, nice stove. your going to love this site , some real world knowledge on here. pete

Welcome to hearth.com . . . just listen to everything Backwoods Savage says with the exception of his belief that splitting wood vertically with a hydraulic splitter is the best way to split wood and you'll do well.

Uh oh, another newbie doomed to spending countless hours on hearth.com. Next thing you know you'll be admiring everybody's wood.

Welcome to the forum JFire. Looks like you must be SW of us and no doubt are still burning wood. Cherry, Maple and Oak make a great combination.

And already you know that firefighterjake is a good guy except for one little point. We keep trying to teach him but some folks learn slow...

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy reading the posts.

Especially the ones where grown ups differ on how to split a bit of wood.

I mean, how many ways can you chop up a bit of wood ;-)

Jfire, welcome and kiss your free time good bye. This is my second day on the site and have been hooked so, yeah you're done. Great info to be found and everyone seems great!

Welcome to both of the newbys.

Pull up a seat, grab a beverage and enjoy the show.

Lots of good people, and lots of good info to be had. Just be aware that a few of the members are a bit "touched" (if ya know what I mean.) ;-)

Thanks for the welcome fellas.......

Dang, I thought we were all "touched" That's what my wife says. "certifiable" is another term she uses. Now I find out some aren't? ;-P Anyway, welcome to the forum and really, their are a lot of good people here that are passionate about burning wood.

Pics can be deceiving, but it looks like you're on the ragged edge of clearance from the window to the front of the hearth...dunno. Looks from the flag in the presentation box that somebody spent some time in uniform. Lots of vets here, yours truly among them. Sure is a cozy scene! Rick

Good eyes Rick. The hearth is actually 16 inches right on the nose from the glass. Thats why i went with the freedom instead of the freedom bay. The Freedom bay is a beautiful insert, but i would have had to set tile beyond my hearth to accomodate the 16". Good observation on the Flag. 7 years in the U.S. Army. 15 months in Iraq. Everywhere from Al Fallujah to Baghdad and all points north. I went to Iraq and all i got was PTSD and a bad back. Thanks for noticing my friend.

Thanks for your service, soldier. Rick (30 years US Navy)

ETA: I'm glad you made it home alive.

Welcome! And this can become an addiction!

There's a contingent of chicas del fuego here as well! They crank their stoves and therefore are often scantily clad.

I'm guessing she doesn't mean EPA certifiable... :)
