Well this is a dream come true, I've been waiting years for this.

I went with New Holland because my brother is a New Holland Master Mechanic and says this model is bullet proof. I also bought a box scraper which is on back order.

It has a quick attach bucket (2 handle release) and then you can attch the pallet forks. I haven't tried them yet.

Good for you, but bad for me. I was hoping to pilfer a quick attach method for forks in a bucket. I am currently building such a thing for my backhoe. I just want to be able to drive up to the forks and quickly attach them (and the carriage) to the bucket. There is nothing quick or easy about trying to take the bucket off of the tractor.

Had a setup on a Case 580? back on the farm.
Hooks welded to each outer bucket edge and a longer rod for the forks.
There wasn't any carriage and you lost about a 1/4 of the fork(they just rested on the bucket lip)

The thing that sucks with the forks is on tractors they can't lift much at all. My Dad made a set for his Kioti. Might be able to lift 900-1000lbs at the very most. Sounds like a bunch of weight, but it can't lift many engines (well other than little ones in cars/trucks)

Now I am jealous. I have a John Deere 3720 on the wish list after the garage is built.

Don't worry about the scratches. The sell blue touchup paint and you can always repaint the entire thing. As soon as I get mine I'll probably put 100 hours on it in a month with all the work that needs to be done around here.

I bought a set of forks that slip on the bucket and then tighten down with a big bolt. They arent ideal but beats changing the bucket out everytime if you dont have quick attatch on your tractor ( wich i would love to have).

awesome!...since you mentioned your brother and servicing, I have a potentially stupid question. I was thinking about tractors the other day and how you service servicing them. Are they easy to service yourself? Are they like cars and require log book servicing from a dealer or mechanic?

I'm not sure what log book servicing is. The dealer will come out and do the first service and then I'll do the rest.

Jack, you are a lucky man. Sound choice also. My buddies Dad has had his NH for 7 yrs and beat the living Crap out of it. Solid machine and cuts his Back 40 very nice with the finish mower.

If you can, be there when they come to service it, and be ready to take notes. The guy who came on my tractor's first service had a wealth of information and took his time showing me things to make it easier, as well as known things to keep an eye on. They also recommended a maintenance schedule different than the manual's checklist (log book?), and I suspect I only remembered part of what he told me.

I have the same quick release bucket with the forks also on my Kubota.. Your going to love that.. When I bought my Fireview home in my truck , the forks worked great to unload the pallet with my stove on,, then just drove it around the back of my house to the rear entrance.. Took the old stove out on a pallet too with those forks. Handy, handy, handy.. Working on putting all my firewood on pallets next, handle the wood one time.. The forks will be a life saver.. Congrats on your new toy... Is that from Jack Miller?
