Hi folks, I've been enjoying reading the threads for awhile and have only recently begun scrounging for wood for future (not current) seasons. I have access to a bunch of this wood, roughly 1-foot diameter, already cut to 6' lengths. Just need to load in my pickup, cut, and chop. Can you ID from the picture?

Yup, that be soft maple there. Split & stack it soon, it'll burn nicely next winter.

I agree it is Red Maple. I burn a lot of Red Maple and it is a good all around firewood. Seasons pretty fast, burns not but lasts longer than softwood.
