If you drive on Rt 287 just south of Boonton, you've seen their impressive wood pile through the trees. I finally took a side-trip this weekend to see who the facility belongs to. They even have this impressive video on YouTube:

Their website is here: (broken link removed) I just sent an email to inquire about their pricing. From the looks of things they have a ton of seasoned wood that's been there for at least a year. Would be very curious to get closer to see for myself in more detail.

Does anyone have any experience buying from them?

Remember, the term "seasoned" seems to vary.

Seasoned to many sellers does not mean ready to burn for the buyer in many cases.

It's great that they have a whole poo-ton of split wood on site and ready to deliver, but in a pile like that, wood doesn't dry well.

It sounds like a great resource (if their prices are fair) to be able to quickly get yourself a few years ahead on the wood piles and do the "seasoning" (drying) yourself.

Obviously, w/out splitting some of their pieces and putting a moisture meter to them, I can't comment on whether their wood is truly seasoned or not.... However, I am highly skeptical / doubtful.

I have seen the pile before off 287. It is massive. I would also be concerned about pile seasoning, and getting a FULL delivered cord. I would suggest getting some 1 season before you intend to use it just to be sure.

Yes - a massive pile.

I think I sent them an email last year, and never got an answer. I'd be interested to know how you make out with them.

Just thrown is a huge pile like that is impressive but only the very outside layer will dry. That stuff in the middle will not dry so beware.

I got a response very quickly:

"Seasoned hardwood...mix of oak & ash. 16-18" in length. $200 per cord. If you order 3 or more cords price drops to $180 per cord or $540 for the 3 cords. "

I am wary for the reasons that people here have cited, particularly if there's a lot of oak. I have a cord of white oak that might be dry by the time my newborn daughter is going to college, not really looking to obtain any more.

I wouldn't pass on oak. Give it a full 2 years and it will be the best wood in your stack.

I would only be leary of not receiving a full cord. They must have plenty of satisfied customers and a well established business base. They've got a lot invested in equipment and such - so they must know the customer is king. If you don't have wood to burn, I'd give them a shot. Tell them to pull some of that gray looking wood at the rear of the pile!

Jim, they have been there for years. Price doesn't sound bad for North Jersey, but I haven't had to buy wood. A tree guy just craned down a few trees over my house said he can't get rid of the wood. Not that many wood burners here. So if you go for it, see if you get what they say. And don't pass up the oak, it's the only wood I burn. There is nothing any better.

If I had the space to store oak for 2 years I'd be all over it. All of my available space is consumed by wood I can't burn yet - 75% of it being oak.

Bought from them three years ago before I started cutting my own. Haggle with them and get them down 20 bucks or so. Wood is not seasoned real well so don't plan on burning it this year

In case anyone in northern NJ needs wood, here is a guy from another forum that seems to be selling quality seasoned stuff at a good price. No affiliation and never bought any, but people seem happy with what they've got.
