Hello everyone. I'm new to burning wood for heat as the title says. I can get a fire going and burn for hours but would like to know if there are any tips or trick to keeping a fire through the night?

I have an Englander NC 13. Seems to only burn for 4 hours max. The house is 2200 sq ft so I like to burn hot to keep the house up to temp.

13 is way too small for that size house. Sell that stove and get it's big brother, the NC30

Did you check out the sticky thread at the top of the topic page, "what stove to buy" ?

Unless they've got R-30 insulation.. ==c @Dix

I will start with, I adore my 13, nice LITTLE heater.

I've gotten a 6 hour burn, and reloads off of coals after 7 hours, but that was with basic coals, and a lot of splitter trash ( Fossils words ;) )

Go bigger, the burn times are way worth it.

If you do a Facebook market & Craigslist search, there may be some large size stoves for a decent price.
There is a Lopi Liberty & NC on FB marketplace. FB is being bitchy and won't let me copy and paste the links.

2.4 cf Quad for $250.00 just outside Wilkes Barre

Do you get 6 hour burns with the firebox loaded and air control turned way down?

I think I'm going to stick with the Englander NC 13 for a couple of years before I get a new and bigger stove.

When should I check the chimney and clean it?
It is advised that when learning you setup up that you clean your chimney / inspect it after every cord, once you get in a comfort zone then you can adjust your routine.
