I picked this up last night. I found it on CL. It's a 2012 and they used it 4 times, I paid $700. It's gonna really speed up my processing, although I did enjoy swinging the Fiskars......

You got a great deal! I and many others like this splitter very much. I paid $949 new this spring, but it was a hassle involving returning the first one. It was a previous return, but factory serviced, and not quite right yet. Gave me a new one at the same price.

I'm firmly in the vertical camp when it comes to splitting any more than a few minutes worth of wood, but usually sit on a round. Its a good feeling to split your seat at the end of it all.

Maybe someone will let me try their milk crate someday?

You mean the ball mount isn't rusted permanently in place? You wouldn't need to pin it in then!

A lot of guys around here that leave the ball mount in the receiver year-round find it rather difficult when they finally need to do so.

Ha. That zip tie is still on my splitter. I keep thinking I'll cut it off someday but haven't gotten around to it yet.
