Question:
A private party in my area is selling firewood (I think red fir) that was originally logs purchased from a log home company that went out of business. He said it was kiln dried. Is this ok to use as firewood in my free standing stove. Are there any concerns I should have or things I should consider doing with the wood before burning it?
Answer:
Yes, this is fine for firewood. The only thing you want to watch out for is that the wood may be too dry and want to burn too fast. In this case, mix with other less-seasoned woods or store outside for a bit so it can regain moisture.
