My wifes Grandfather asked me to find him an Englander insert and I was wondering if anyone has bought one lately and where I could find a good deal on one in southern Maine or the internet. I know Home Depot carries the freestanding models but I called them and they couldnt help me with getting the insert. I also talked to the local Hardware store and they said they didnt carry them even though both places are listed on the Englander website. Thanks in advance

lowes home improvement carries englander stoves but they call them summerheat, made for lowes by englander. same stove ,just with pewter trim & cheaper price.
FYI... both lowes & home depot had their end of season stove clearance sales in Feb. you may find the odd model left over from the sale,still at the sales price of 1/2 off, but you will need to have the salesman check all the stores in the state for stock on hand with his computer. Or you could do it yourself on line , by constantly changing the location of the store you are shopping at , until you locate an insert in stock, on the lowes or home depot screen.
Both lowes & home depot will not have stoves in stock again until sept as they need the floor space for lawn tractors. so right now ,you trying to find a 2007 left over.

Thanks for the reply Eernest4 . I tried those routes however I thought I would try a different Lowes to see if they were any better help. The name stovehugger came from the term treehugger however I dont think I can call myself a treehugger. I love trees but instead of loving them until they sit and rot I much better enjoy cutting them down and burning them.
I had trouble at the big box stores also. Maybe you asked the wrong person though. Try asking at the commercial sales counter. Either lowes or HD (I don't remember now) could special order the insert. The other store couldn't find it in their books. The price was higher than the ACE hardware and private dealer.
At this point in the season, I wouldn't be looking too hard at retail stores. I would put some ads on craigslist and try to find a deal on a used insert.
A drolet insert from Northern Tool or elsewhere may be another option if you can't find what you want. Someone on the web had a good package deal with a liner. Anyone know who that was?

Thanks Everyone for your replies. I finally got some luck at the local True Value Hardware. It was ordered yesterday and should be here in a week or so. $1000.00 Hopefully my wifes grandparents will enjoy the show through the glass. They currently have a BetternBens insert which heats well but they wanted to be able to see the fire burning. Thanks again

They cost about $12.oo a can but put on an awesome show inside the stove.They burn like a shower of colored sparks firework cone ,only slower & they are seperate flakes ,so you can sprinkle in as few or as many as you like.
Good for a fun afternoon, dont tell grandpa about them, & sneak them into the stove &
have grandpa & grandma watching when you first lite up the stove. Then tell then thats what always happens & is normal with secondary burn stoves. Then tell them to call you up if the colors stop. when they call you, tell them where you hide the can of rainbow sparkles in their house.
They never forget this joke as long as they live & grandpa be looking to pull it on all his friends too,I bet.
