I recently purchased home with an older fireplace insert, Montgomery Ward brand. Article #74-21002R. It has a 5” U-shaped tube with a small electric fan inside the tube, at the top of the fire box, which I believe is a heat recirculating apparatus. I have been able to find no information on this unit. The fan burned up sometime in the past. I’m just wondering if anyone has any knowledge or information about this particular unit. I’m thinking of maybe trying to replace the fan something suitable. Or doing away with the tube setup altogether?
