We finally decided on a stove. After going back and forth on what we wanted, and what would fit, we decided on the Woodstock Progress Hybrid. I paid for it last night and should be here mid-December. I ordered black cast iron with plinth base and right side loading door. My wife didn't like the stone look at first, but she finally came around. Or she is just starting to get cold and wants a stove. :)

My wood supply is better than last year, but still not ideal. MC is at about 25%. I have some pine that is dry (<20%) that I was planning on mixing in to help it along. Any concerns with this? Something else I should be considering? How much shorter life can I expect from the cat burning wet wood?

Congrats on the new stove. Your wood sounds like it's pretty close, you may just have to burn a little hotter or mix in like you said. The good thing about these new s/s cats they are resistant to thermo shock so you should be ok.

Nater, you should really like that new Progress stove. It is very impressive to say the least. We also ordered black cast and plinth base.

Thanks. Glad to hear it as I was a little worried about not having the best wood this year. Now it's time to hurry up and wait. :)

Thanks Dennis for the pictures and the video you took when you went there. I think it is what sold my wife on the stove. :) When do you expect to receive your stove? When I ordered last night they said they were shipping out the first ones in about 2 weeks.

Thanks Nater and this is why I posted the pictures and video; for those who couldn't attend the open house. My wife loved the fires in that beast too.

As for delivery dates, I specifically asked to be put on the bottom of the list. The reason for that is that we still are not 100% certain we can use the stove. It might be too large for our needs. We'll know as soon as we get a blast of cold air and that probably won't be until December.

Weird, I asked to be put on the top of the list, but got stuck in the mid-December group. :)

Couldn't you just turn the stove down low and wouldn't have to reload as often? That's one thing I am really excited about. Right now I have to reload 4-5 times a day. And I think it is around a 4.0cu firebox. All the heat just goes up the chimney. There isn't even a baffle in the stove. I should burn a lot less wood once I get it up and running.

Yes, we could put less wood in the stove but the main point is that we love the Fireview and if it will continue to do the job, then we may be best to keep it.

Congrats on the Progress Hybrid stove Nate! You're gonna love the spectacular view of a lively fire! They are much nicer to see in person than any picture can show..

Congrats on the stove! I'm curious to hear some input from the folks that have them on order.

With all the upgrades you made to Your house I'm thinking you might be keeping the Fireview or going smaller?

Not smaller for sure Hiram. But if you saw that new Progress, you would be excited too. I'll certainly buy it if we need it. It is truly an impressive stove.

oh wait you put on am addition too...?
I was only pulling your leg, the video of it burning was impressive. It looks like a fantastic choice!

It's a good choice . . . I was impressed and really liked the look of this stove . . . I suspect it will grow on your wife pretty quickly . . . if not the looks, the unbelievable heat that it pumps out.
