Owners of the Rock-Flex SS Liner

I am trying to decide on which liner to get. I read a lot about the Homesaver, Ventinox, ForeverFlex being the better ones on the market ... however, the price of the Rock-Flex is attractive and they look like decent quality.

I have seen some members here recommending this SS liner ... Taken from their site:

I am wondering how smooth the inside of this liner is ... since my chimney is on the short side I want my draft to be the best it could be.

Can you share your experience with this liner?

That is what i have and it has been what I expected. Only had it for a year though. What kind of a review are you looking for?? I bought the cap, liner and stove connector. Went together in a snap - right down the old chimney...

The inside of the liner is not smooth - not really possible in a flexible liner I think - and not quite certain that smooth is necessary??

Most liners aren't smooth on the inside... I represent a manufacture of flexible pipe and we had our machine setup to create smooth pipe but after we rolled it up it would pull the smooth side out and create ridges, so we just went back to the old way of making pipe.... If you have any questions feel free to ask.... we are one of the more highly thought of brands in terms of flex by a good number of chimney sweeps.

I have been reading a bunch about the different quality of SS Liners.

A few conclusions that I am coming to in my own mind are:
- the smoother the interior is the better your draft (http://www.protechinfo.com/c269/FasNSmooth-c270.html)
- the smoother the interior is the easier the cleaning
- the smoother the interior is the less creosote can get embedded into crevices
- the 316Ti is a better quality product than the others
- the welded seems are better than crimped seems (http://www.protechinfo.com/c269/Ventinox-c9.html)
- the stronger the better ((broken link removed))

I really just want the best product for the cheapest price. I don't want to just go and buy the most expensive ones available just because they are expensive and have good advertising. I want to buy a liner that will serve me well for many years in all areas of typical use.

I heard rumors that your 316Ti SS "Rock-Flex" liner is made by Olympia and is the exact same product as "Forever Flex".

Can you confirm or deny this rumor?

I ended up ordering from Rockford in the end because of their price, experience of forum members, and "forever" warranty.

Looks similar to Forever Flex. The Forever Flex came in a white box that is similar to yours, the entire liner was wrapped in plastic with the ends covered. I do like the top plate that I received from Forever Flex a little more. It is an actual cap and the sides of the plate wrap around the edge of my clay liner and I was able to screw it to the clay liner after applying silicone.

Seems like it sealed pretty well and I don't have to worry about water or other elements leaking in around the edges. You probably won't have that issue as long as you silicone well.

I am generally satisfied with the products but that is mostly because I have nothing to compare them to. Hopefully this will help others in making their big "liner decision".

Good to hear that it looks similar to the Forever Flex.

I had the option of getting that top plate as well but I opted not to get it since I wanted to re-use my rain guard/top cap. The one you are describing may have worked but since I wasn't sure I went with the basic one. The 13"x13" top plate allows me to bend it over my 8"x12" clay liner and I will have my sheet metal friend bend for me. Then slide the old Rain Guard right over top.

What was I thinking not getting the adjustable 45 last year! Don't even know if they had it last year but oh well I guess. Maybe Ill get one this year or next just to tidy up the connection to the insert - then again - who can see it.
