Feeling the Heat

I've been working through a couple cords of rounds processing them for 17-18, 18-19. I travel a lot so when I get an hour or so at home I get on it. Yesterday I had a couple of Black Cherry rounds with knots. So I gave it some hard whacks! Then.....crud felt my abdominal muscle on the left side start hurting! Tried a couple more, yep, now I have to take some time off. Guess this is what "60" brings!

I'm not too far behind you, 55 1/2 and yes there is always some body part in pain lol!

Remember when we were younger, and people would say "don't get old", and we laughed and thought "that won't be me, I won't be saying that!" and now I'm saying that now, especially to the U-12 soccer team I coach! ;lol  <>

Wait until 69. Ya ain't felt nothin yet. <>

Yep it's called paying for all those less than intelligent decisions/ actions you made in your younger years + wear and tear.

When I asked a specialist about certain joints he told me that I had exceeded my warranty. Not sure what hurts more, the truth or my neck! ;)

I've had to include just regular old exercises in my work routine out of self-defense. At least you're still a body in motion!!

That's the reason why 19 years ago, when I was age 50, I stopped splitting wood by hand and bought a used gasoline hydraulic splitter. Never regretted the decision. My wear and tear was the rotator cuff in my right shoulder. The shoulder is still doing OK, with some pain, but preserving the body to enjoy retirement rather than wearing it out due to macho instinct is by far the better choice.

100% agree with that

Yep. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

I'll live! Picked up half a truck load of ash this morning I'll just have to wait a few more days to split it.

I remember watching my 70 year old grandpa swinging the axe, he had a unique way in splitting wood, he would whack a wedge on the bottom piece then take his maul and sink it into another log, then he would pick the maul upside down and whale on the piece with the wedge, he would be able to split both logs at the same time. I didn't get those genes of super human strength, instead I got my dads adhd and deteriating eye sight lol.
