painting chimney pipe allowed?

Do you think most places would allow painting the
outside of my stainless chimney pipe with high temp
spray paint like Thurmalox? (To make it match the
roof better.)

Can be done. Ideally, a paint made for this use - there are actually paints made for stainless steel. But some other exterior paints will also work. Chimney must be very clean before painting. An idea situation might be to let it weather for a few weeks or months and then paint.
