Papa Bear wood stove Paton D237798

HI, I've identified the stove we have as a Papa Bear. Single door, 2 air intakes, opens right to left. Our house was built by the previous (originial) owner in 1991 so I'm guessing the stove was installed at the same time and was built before this date. We are in Ontario Canada. Our problem is we need to have the stove inspected (WETT) for insurance purposes. Is there any information that you can supply that would satisfy our insurance company. They usually want a sticker or metal plate on the back of the stove to prove that it is safe etc... I have not been able to locate any such number. We are extremely happy with this stove and would like to keep it as it is perfect for us. There is no rust, it's been well maintained. I don't think we could find a better one to replace it. Any information you could send me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

These stoves pioneered the safety testing and insurance regulations, but were tested by different agencies not recognized nationally until testing practices became standardized after this stove was built. The labeled appliances will be made after 1980 with shields on bottom and rear with the required label on the rear shield. If your area includes certification for smoke particulate, they will not have that label. Unfortunately they treat anything without a label as a homemade untested item that is unknown.
You would have to ask the WETT certified inspector if the labels below are recognized as approved safety testing; They may require Canadian testing as well. Provinces and local criteria vary in Canada.
