As seen from the cat hole. My king does not have one, just wondering what the purpose is?

To reflect the heat from the cat so the temp gauge does not have one hot and one cold side, I think.
And some gas flow pattern change to release more heat into the room before the gases exit, I think

Don't know why the King doesn't have one (or even if it should have one)

On my prior model princess that shield exists and is welded in place. My noncat has a similar shield for the purpose of forcing hot exhaust to take a longer path instead of shooting right up the flue.

There are 3 holes in it, one is hidden behind the cat probe. There gotta be a reason for those too. Aliens were working overtime on this plate to stump our curiosity.
