Hi
I'm in CT and was wondering if you where to heat a 2,000 Ft space would it be better with a pellet insert or a gas insert?. the gas would be in a bigger bottle or i think 100 gallon tank.

We are looking to heat the den, dinning room and the kitchen. all the rooms connect. we do like the real look of the gas but have a pellet stove down staires.we can store alot of pellets no problem.

Thanks John

Most large gas inserts are 35 to 40 k BTU

Most pellet inserts are 40-50 K btu
So in my opinion you are going to get more heat from the pellet.

Thats not that much of a difference. I like the easyness of the gas but need it to heat close to pellets at what the pellets cost to heat.

Ok well is this a 2000sqf open area? How well is the house insulated? 2000 SQF is quite a bit to heat. I'm heating a whole house that is less than that.

https://www.hearth.com/what/specific.php That should have lots of answers to questions but the biggie is......

https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/articles/fuel_cost_comparison_calculator/

The fuel cost calc. Plugin the cost of all your current fuels and see what you get.

Thanks for this info. I'm going to read and do my math.
