Pellet Storeage Ideas

I did a site search and read up on time life of pellets and what conditions to store pellets at, but I was thinking it would be good
for us firestarters to have a picture and info. reference regarding storage options for pellets.
To answer these questions:
How much room does a one ton pallet of stacked pellets take up.
How do you store your pellets when you do not have room for a wrapped pallet (ie racks in a garage? racks that can handle the weight).
What do you think?

Throw a pallet 40"x48" in the corner of the garage. Stack five bags per a row and switch direction each row. With a standard 8' wall you should be able to get almost two tons stacked to the ceiling. Have a step ladder if you are short.

Last summer, I stacked 4 tons in my cellar....2 of the pallets had 15 rows high of 5 bags each (5 x 15 x 2= 150), plus another pallet of 1 ton elsewhere. Plus, I had a "spare" 3 tons of shoulder season pellets outside:

I use my garage which is under the house. Currently there is 11 ton in the garage stacked in 6 1.5 ton stacks and 2 1 ton stacks that have to be re handled when the rest of my order arrives.

I could do 1.8 ton (18 rows) but I don't want to spend time on a step ladder.

you could start your own pellet store with all that supply on hand .next time i go to old orchard beach i will keep an eye out for the mountain of pellets in the distance. lol

Don't get any ideas there. I'll see you coming long before you get close enough to do a stash raid.

I plan on going into next season with three seasons worth. Us old folk use tricks like this to pinch our pennies so we can go out to our favorite places more often and stay within budget.

I've just got to get the stash inside soon so I can order my spring chicks.

im doing the same three seasons worth. 10 tons should do ....i think even us young whipper snappers think ahead once in awhile

I have 5 tons of Presto-logs in my crib in the basement. Just added 2 tons of Lignetic's (Green Label)today, and gonna pick up 2 tons of Easy Heat pellets within the next few weeks. 9 tons for next year. Still on the LOOK-OUT for more Always keep your stash growing. My Crib (closet in the basement) is 15 long X 6 feet deep. Pellets stacked damn near to the cieling. The 2 tons of Easy Heats will have to be put in my workshop area downstairs. Barely any room to walk through the Crib.

DexterDay- I like how you put the bags on their sides instead of flat. Takes us less space?

Every time I make a post from my phone (blackberry). It comes out sideways....The pictures are not altered in any way. I do not rotate them. I am gonna start to rotate them 1/4 turn clockwise, before I post from phone. Its alot quicker to take a pic on it, and post it. Than to get my camera, take the pic, upload it, downsize it through Picassa. Just turn your head and out it on your left shoulder... Or pick up your screen and set it on its side. LOL... Sorry, I will just post pics from my camera now.. Lesson learned.
