Greetings all,

I am planning on installing my second pellet stove, but to my oil furnace chimney. The chimney opens to the furnace, so I would use a reducer to fit the pellet stove pipes. The chimney also has an ash door, easy access to clean ash.

However, do I need to install a chimney liner?

The chimney is clean, and used just a few months ago with the oil furnace, which I will have removed soon.

any advice?

thanks,
erik

Welcome to the forum
We could use a little more info
Type of chimney?
What size of the chimney?
length of the chimney?

Thanks for replying.

It was used for an oil burning furnace.

Length is approx 25ft. Type, I do not know. I attached pics.

Looks like an 8 in. square flue pipe in a block chase.
It has a cleanout ( bonus) Others will weigh in
maybe draft problems but I would try a reducer
from the round pipe to the pellet stove vent pipe.
I use a 6-inch class A chimney 20 feet long. It has
worked for me for the last 22 years.
Check the stove manual

Thanks! 😎

I also asked a friend of mine regarding this, and he said similar to what you have said.
