Burning Hunk

Just picked up a ton of Stove Chow at HD for $196.00. This stuff burns beautifully in my XXV.

Lots less ash from Stove Chow then the ones I've gotten from Lowes(Cheat River, Green Supreme and Green Team) or TSC (can't remember what brand but isn't one I've heard on here).

Nice score for the Chow!! IMO, I'd pick up as many tons as you can afford/store at that price.

so you think stove chow is better then North American?

North American (AKA Curran) is junk, IMO. Chow is way better.

I have both and cant tell the difference. the flame wraps arount all the way to the bottom tube(pb 105 boiler) with my feed turned up to 5 with both pellets. I'm so glad I got a Harman. its my understanding it will burn rocks...well almost :p

I had them a few years ago and were the best big box pellet I have run across. Last year all I could get were AWF, Green Team and Press to Log. Most of these are messy and not very hot. For an extra $30 $50 a pallet I can get Hamer's currently.

Pellet furnaces/boilers are designed to burn any grade of pellet, and most of the time no one will notice any difference.

I burned them last winter and will not do that again.

Yep! Very little ash. That's what I like about it most. That and the price.

I just got off the phone with home depot chuck, they have stove chow here for 219.00 a ton. I wish I could get them for the same price you do. Its amazing how the store prices vary by location. They also have press to logs for the same price, but I am not familar with them. I know they are made by lignetics, and Im currently burning the green labeled bag of ligs.

Tried a few bags of Fireside Ultra from HD, they were hot with low ash but real bad carbon buildup!

Im burning Fireside Ultra's ($209/ton) from HD, clean burning pellet but I need to turn the stove up to get the heat i need ( full house) from it this time of year

Stove Chow and FSU are $209/ton and $4.18/bag here at HD. First time we have had SC here and I grabbed 10 bags to test. Burned two bags and they are hot, hot, hot. And that is on medium, on my Castille. The ash is a bit more than the GT I am finishing up from last year's purchase. I got to another HD store tonight and picked up a couple of bags of this year's FSU, which I will start burning tomorrow. Whatever is best for heat output, I will grab a ton over the weekend for shoulder work, I am sitting on a ton of Barefoot from 2010 and two tons of Somersets from 2011. Last year was so warm, I just burned shoulder pellets, two tons of FSU and a ton of GT.

I got a ton of Press to Log early on for $188 with Mil discount. They burn OK but are very messy with lots of ash.

Been burning FSU so far this season, tried a bag of Chow they gave me due to a hole in a bag and found them as hot and alot less dust/fines than FSU
Next Ton will be Chow's, 2 weeks ago i asked for FSU, they had to search and found the last ton in Enfield Ct HD.

I bought a ton of Stove Chow at HD about a month ago for the same price.( $196.00) then they ran out. Usually their next shipment they raise the price but this time they kept it the same so I grabbed another ton. They are my favorite pellet. Not necessarily because of the price but because of the clean burning low ash.

My local HD only has Pres-to-logs. Have you tried them this season?

Same here. And they are all piled up outside, and almost every pallet has damage in one form or another.

My HD doesn't have Pres-to-logs. I never heard of them. My HD gets in a lot of different brands but never that one.

I got a ton of them from HD in the fall. $188 after 10% discount. The burn ok but produce lots of ash. Fines are about average.

I am having good luck with chow. Relatively clean and hot. I got them for 209 at hd. I will be going back for more. Very good pellet for the price. Other pellets near me that are decent are $300 per ton.

I liked Chows the last time I had them, but I have not seen them around here in a while.
