I am in no way connected with them, Just passing along what I have found. But I have purchase pellets from them in the past and I do recommend them as good folks.

The 240.00 a ton is not that bad, but 75.00 delivery for the first ton is a killer. But, only 10.00 for each ton thereafter. Thanks for the post.

I'm closer than you I guess. Its only $35 for delivery to my house. But I get my own, And pay myself for doing it. I get some nice fishing gear because of I do my own hauling. Got a F150 that will easily haul a ton. An if I catch a deal, My Mercury Sable hauls 12 to 14 bags. Anything to save a buck in these times.

Keep an eye out there should be some price drops soon. Scott at CT Pellet says he will post the early buy prices by the 16th of March.

Thanks for the early buy info, I'll keep an eye out. I hauled home the 3 tons for this past season in my 1/2 ton Silverado, it really didn't appreciate it. It was only a mile drive or so, but I would hate to do some serious damage to the truck that would cost more to fix than paying a delivery charge.
 
I was going to tease you with the Ford-Chevy thing, But I know what you are saying. He's less that 20 miles from me so, That's not pushing it. Most I think I would do in the back of the truck is 50 miles. Have a buddy that has a utility trailer for longer haules.

Spread the weight and drive slow is all you can do!

Have heard of folks hauling loads in their 1/2 ton pickup trucks that exceeded the truck's factory load rating as well as loads on utility trailers that were not properly licensed, or with proper safety features ( safety chains, brakes, hitch capacity, etc.) for the weight being hauled, who were pulled over by the Maine State Police, and the fines far exceeded what any delivery charges would have been.

No idea what other states do or how insurance companies feel about overloads.

I typically divide a one ton pallet of pellets into three trips , with my 1/2 ton pickup, to stay well within safety and load limits, even though it feels as if it could easily haul much more.

Just more cautious than I used to be . . . . . . .

My F150 has a tow package (10k) and helper springs. Same wt. rating as an F250. 2150 LBS wt rated.(I figure with my fat butt in the truck too, 1 ton is the max I'd haul)

This is what I bought it for. As long as I don't try to haul it for a 1000 miles. When the truck was purchase I got what they recommended to do the needed task's. I also have a boat 3200lbs and its rated to haul that as far as I want. The utility trailer is rated for 10K LBS. I only haul 4 tons max. I always obey the road rules. Slow n easy with the load on. You still have to stop it!

But you do make a good point. I have seen people with cord wood on little trucks and there front end is almost off the ground. Just doesn't look safe!

Sounds like your truck is definately "Built Ford Tough".

Wish more people were aware of vehicle load and towing ratings as you obviously are!

ever see a ton of pellets in a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer??
handled them pellets with amazing ease..
granted I watched my fuel economy dip into the single digits at times..lol
but i only had a short trip of 5 miles
