PF100 Burn pot replacement

I may have missed the posts or threads regarding what I should look out for when I'm replacing my PF100 burn pot. I have already replaced my burn pot but was unable to push my flame guide all the way back so that it butts up against the side of the furnace.
Does the flame guide float on top of the burn pot behind the cut out for it on the pot itself or should it be right up against the side of the furnace?
