Ok experts. Please forgive me if this is a absolute absurd scenario that I'm considering, but u have a finished rec room with a location for a fireplace that was done before I bought the house. Knowing I'll need to review all the specs of any vent free insert for clearence to combustibles and all that I still have one glaring question. My house has a heat pump and does not use any gas at all. Instead of installing a huge propane tank outside and trenching to the house , drilling through the foundation, etc etc to plumb for gas to a vent free fireplace in the basement, is there any opportunities to use a 100+ gallon portable Propane Tank and leave it in the adjacent unfinished room in the basement and plum to my vent free from there? I know it isn't ideal, this fireplace will rarely be used and is mostly for cosmetic. Just never known anyone to be in my exact scenario. Perhaps it has been asked on here before, I searched but couldn't find anything.

Absolutely not. I have seen homes destroyed by having a 20 lb cylinder inside. Never keep any propane tank inside any part of your home.
