I recently purchased a house with a gas log setup in the fireplace. The valve shut off is located inside the fireplace with a long L-shaped handle to control the valve (see pic). The problem is there is a significant leak at the valve location when the valve is turned on. The red colored valve is loose.

I’ve searched online for a replacement valve but cannot find anything similar. Does anyone recognize this valve or know where to buy replacement? I’m also trying to determine if this repair needs to be done by a professional. I’m fairly handy but plumbing, especially with gas lines, is not in my wheelhouse. Thanks

Can't you just replace it with a standard fireplace valve? You might have to do your own mod to the key to make it longer.

Maybe something like this. Take off the handle and make your own. Anything to get rid of a leaking gas valve.

jmb,

Thanks for the suggestion. My first thought was to just replace it with the same type of shut off. I was surprised I couldn’t find a similar replacement when searching online. But no reason I can’t use a different type of shut off. I’ll give it a try.
Thanks
