Question on a Harman Advance

I just got home from installing my sons new to him Advance. It was made in 2000 so that makes it an Advance 1, correct? Anyways, the install was textbook. We did replace the combustion motor and fan because the old one was a bit noisy. Before we installed the stove, my son did a very deep clean with my help including the fines box. After the install, I set the temp at 70 degrees and fired the stove on room temp and we had fire within 10 minutes. The room air fan came on as it should after 15 minutes or so and ramped up to the setting we had selected. After a 1/2 hour or so, the room was up to temp. As soon as the stove shut off, the room fan shut off. (!) The only way to get the fan back on was to switch to stove temp. My question is why did it do this? Bad dip switch setting? (If it even had dip switches) Bad control board? On my Accentra, my room fan runs for an hour after the stove shuts off.

Nothing is wrong. The fan is controlled by the exhaust probe, the control board settings,and the programming. Even though the stove was "off' it was probably still hot,and the probe knows this. Yes the fan does act differently in stove vs room mode.

Food for thought-- most of us will clean out the potentiometers on the control board with contact cleaner, and, you might want to check the number on the control board, as the latest one seems to burn cleaner,in most stoves. Although the latest is prob. 6 years old,now.

I'm willing to bet that the control board is original. I will have him check the board number. It may be time to change it.

My Accentra shuts down the room blower at different temps,depending on if in room or stove mode. BUT in stove mode, the fan will even shut off when the fire returns to a slow burn,as stove does not shut off in this mode. It also depends if you turned stove to off,or if you let it go off, by the room temperature setting. Also,the auger still runs,a little , to allow the fire to die gradually.

Usually you can get good prices on pellet stove stuff,this time of year.But in a few more weeks,that will change. Just ordered a spare burn pot for my Integra,$149.00 freight included. A good deal.

My son ordered a new control board. The one on the stove was an original 2000, New board number is 10095886. Same as my 2007 Accentra 2. He also ordered the red wire ESP. That should take care of it. He paid $199 for the board and $14.99 for the probe.

I forgot to do an update on my sons stove. The control board fixed the problem. Now the fan ramps up and down with the temp of the stove. It is also adjustable while the stove is operating in Room Temp mode.

Nice. I noticed when I put the newer board in, my accentra prob 4 years ago, and BIL's P68 less than 2 years ago, slightly less heat, but much cleaner burning.

I just talked to my son this morning. He has the stove on the lower level of his split level home. To heat the upstairs, he is running the stove on Stove Temp setting 4 and the feed at 3. The stove fan was set at the halfway point. Down stairs is 80 degrees, upstairs is 65. Being a split, there is a staircase from the lower to the upper level. I'm going to try to help him move the air. I had him get a pedestal fan and put it where the the hot air in that room will get blown up the stairs. I'll know later today if that helps. I'm sure it will. He's got the fan on high to blow air across the room to the waiting pedestal fan. Even if the heat is diminished a bit with the new board, it still throws out a ton!
