If I took everything flammable out of my house there wouldn't be much left. Sounds like carelessness was to blame. I dont store fire wood in the house due to bugs.

I wood think firewood catching is the least of ones worries in the house. Lots of things in any house that will catch easier and sooner than firewood. That sounds like a fluke thing there with an added dose of carelessness.

I agree with both of you guys . . . I do know however that if I was working with a torch or hot solder I would be wicked careful around anything combustible.

Step #1 when conducting hot work operations- clear or cover combustibles within 30 ft......ok, that is the OSHA world- home world- just get the damn job done......deal with the consequences later

Step #2- Firewatch for a minimum of 30 minutes following any hot work (OSHA world)......Just get the damn job done- (home world)

Amazing how many people do not carry over safe practices to their home lives.
