I want to add an OAK to my Accentra insert, so I need a new cap for my chimney - one that has the intake.

Any recommendations?

$300 for a cap....ouch. I may end up making my own.

why don't you drop it down the clean out door in the fire box, should be plenty of air there

I added spacers between the top of the tile flue liner and top plate. Kept one side open to vent the chase with some wire mesh over it to keep anything unwanted out. RTV'ed everything together and it works like a charm. Also, my top cap is the terra cotta style where the flange extends down about a 1" or so which covers everything up for a clean installation.

I just installed my oak over the summer, I drilled a hole through the brick on the chimney and used a dryer vent with 3" pipe to connect to the stove. I don't remember how much the dryer vent adapter was but wasn't more than $10

I made my own OAK cap by cutting down my existing SS cap wire mesh to about 1-1/2" and used stainless bolts to re-secure. Works great and only cost one cut wheel for 4-1/2" grinder.

I wish.

I have an insert, and no cleanout on the fireplace.
