What would be the reason I am using the same amount of pellets with the tstat on as I do with it off? I am seeing the tstat working because the stoves drops down. What gives...

When did you install the stat? How far is it from the stove?

My guess is that it still takes the same amount of btu's to heat the house. On off the house temp may drop quicker than high low is about it. Still takes the same amount of pellets burned to make up the btu's.

Beginning of winter, about 5 feet I guess.

It is possible to use more pellets with a thermostat.

If the stove is cycling more. The btus it is using to come up to temperature before your convection blower comes on are tossed up the chimney and lower your overall efficiency.

Same with the cooldown cycle.

I found that the Tstat worked great in the cooler months of Oct.-Nov., but once it really got cold, it was better to keep the stove running on low when no one was home or at night. Once we get into warmer months again (March- April), I'll go back to the stat.
