Sawzamatic!

I cut a bunch of Speckled Alder a while ago. I couldn't really saw it up in my usual wood rack because of how crooked this stuff is. So after some internet searching I made my own little wood processor.

I call it the Sawzamatic.

Yeah I do, but I dont use it. After two months of wearing them continuously in an engine room.... I tend to like to be free of them when home on vacation.

Yeah, I know it's a lame excuse, but thats the way I roll..

Still have both my hands after sawing up two chord of alders too.

Pretty cool. Just about finished cutting up a bunch of similar sized stuff. About 8 garbage cans full or so. Would have come in handy, nice job.

Considering both my father and grandfather both had hearing aids, I should know better...but yes, I am headstrong like that!

Then again, both my father and grandfather also mentioned it is nice not being able to hear their wives much...hahaha

Thats a pretty slick way to cut.
I have ringing in both ears and "modrate to severe" hearing loss in both ears, I'm 37. To be honest I didn't wear hearing protection all that much when I was younger and now I wish I had. Aside from trying to save what I have left I wear it now just to set a good example for my kids who cut wood and shoot with me all the time. My muff modded 630 super is pretty loud... But I think the damage was caused in Iraq in 2005 and 2006. Burning through belts of 50 cal will test any ear pro. And doing it with no ear pro results in real damage.

Yeah... It worked really well for smaller twisty stuff.
For junking up my main wood (spruce) is use my wood rack:


Just fill it up and saw down through :



Great for the bigger straight stuff and you have to do it by yourself.
I have the uprights positioned 18 inches apart for suitable lengths for my stove

nice - how do you get the logs in there or are they smaller in diameter than they look?

My wood averages 6 inches in diameter at the base, so I guess they are smaller than they look to you.

It is spruce so it isnt very heavy for lifting around.

Get custom ear plugs made. They are amazing. You can wear them for 10 hours and never notice they are there. Failing that you can get ones you make at home. They cost like 20 bucks and work very well.

Just got my hearing aids about a month ago. I'm hearing all sorts of things I haven't heard in years. My son mentioned that now I have to listen to the girls in the house. I let him know that I can mute the aids. He said "They're better than real ears!"

Being a music lover and audiophile, my hearing is my most valued senses. I wear over the ear protection when my neighbors run machines!

The ringing condition is called tinnitus and it's usually permanent. Even if you have it intermittently you notice how annoying it is. This is from the Mayo clinic:

• Loud noise exposure. Prolonged exposure to loud noise can damage the tiny sensory hair cells in your ear that transmit sound to your brain. People who work in noisy environments — such as factory and construction workers, musicians, and soldiers — are particularly at risk.

I'll be looking into some custom ear plugs, I just have some good headphone style silencers but they are bulky.

Thanks for the pics. I love the sawbuck/crib ideas.
I have alot of brush/limbs too. Chipping is brutal and brush burning is banned in NY in early spring when its the most effective.
I need a solution too.

It's all awesome when everything works well. Then you trip and fall into the thing and it goes wide open throttle and you lose and arm in 1 second.

It think is very cool. It also looks very dangerous.

Cutting up all that thin stuff seems difficult any other way.
