Well it looks like the problem with the damper that we inherited with the insert when we bought the house has forced us to deal with it now. We can't close the damper. We were able to close it if we didn't pull the handle out all the way. We were hoping to get it fixed in the Spring. My husband thinks something might have broken inside.
We've called the fireplace tech who says he'll try to make it out later this week. He's very busy...and he is.

Has anyone had any experience with something like this? Don't misunderstand. We're not looking to do this ourselves. Just wondering. Does this mean that the unit will have to be pulled out (since you can't see the mechanism)? I'm just curious. The manual doesn't give any information and the breakout picture doesn't help either.

Thanks.
