I know the manufacturers list by square footage but that's just a ball park figure. They don't know if you have leaky windows or bad insulation ,etc. How would you go about how many BTU'S is needed to heat your home ?
A good place to start is with the existing heating system. Then size by sq ftg. unless their are high ceilings, in which case you need to pay attention to cubic ftg. The factor in insulation, glass area etc.. If all the above variables are working against you consider getting a wood furnace instead.
