Hey all; I’ve been successfully running my Osburn wood insert for the past few seasons. I started it up for the season and burned a small fire a few days ago and all was well. Tonight I started a fire and all is still well, but tonight it seems there is a slight chemical smell around the stove.
It was burning very hot for a while, but not hotter then it’s burned before. Maybe it’s my imagination but it seems to have gone away when I shut the damper down and slowed down the burn.
My wife noticed it as well, asked what the weird smell was.
Nothing is different, nothing is close to the stove that could be burning, etc. then she tells me that she noticed the shingles on the roof around the chimney seem to be a different color then the rest of the roof, like they are more worn or something.
Now she’s paranoid that the roof or the siding is melting or something.
Just wondering if this a normal occurrence, or if we really should be worried about something. It’s a 3 year old install with full stainless chimney liner, etc. Regular cleaning done.
