Smell from vent tape

My 25-pdvc is only a year old and last year I noticed no smell from it except from the first couple of burns (normal).
This year I get a slight smoke smell for the first hour at least. I've cleaned the T and vaccumed and intend on cleaning the combustion blower (gasket on order). I decided to use Reflectix tape on the pipe joints in case that was where the smell was comng from. I dont notice much of a smoke smell now but seem to smell the tape itself. Kind of a metal/glue smell.
I am wondering if the high temp tape has a smell when first used -- that later goes away?

edit: uh-oh, I think I used the wrong kind of tape. I found the kind I should have used in my shop. Not sure why I even had the other kind around. Ok, now do I replace the pipes I used it on or just take it off and put on the correct stuff?

Pull off the old tape, and use some acetate to remove the adhesive. Of course make sure your stove is off, and your pipe cold.

great thanks. I pulled off the old tape and it seems like everything came off with it. interesting that it only seemed to smell where it went into the T but it was probably only a matter of time before it reach the other joints. aired out the house too. not fun
