So I just brought home a 30-NC

HD was looking to get rid of some inventory and willing to haggle. Removed all the brick and the door... And it's still freakin' heavy. It's going to take a lot of beer to get it down into its new basement home.

My dolly's tires are all aired up.

Taking the bricks out and removing the door takes around 120 pounds off. So you probably have around 340 pounds on your hands. Moved one in and out of my house by myself. Twice. It is painful.

Take the baffle boards out too before you move it so you don't wreck'em.

It's down in the basement. No fingers, legs or other objects hurt in the process. 3/4 of the way down the steps one of the dolly's tires started to loose air though. That could have made it interesting.

pallet loaded its 455 lbs , drop about 120 (bb is about right) for the door and bricks, leaves 335 lbs , still a bit of a load. good thing is you wont have to move it again for quite a while , she's a workhorse and engineered to hold up.

Congrats on the 30NC purchase....I've got its baby brother the 13NC and couldn't be happier with the ease of operation and performenace of these units.

Home Depot here put thier stoves on sale 10% off for about a week last Spring.
Then put them all on a rack top shelf out in the garden center.

They put the same display model (13-NC) on display out in the garden center with the barbeque grills a week ago.
All scratched up and rusty. . Not even on sale or given a quick coat of black paint. The other models and pellet burners were still in the white boxes.

Outside is partially under a roof, but sheesh.

Kinda odd seeing wood stoves on display end of June here. It's usually September or later.
It makes sense, but it's not usually done.

With the revenue situation with HD right now if you see a stove there that you want, have them call the manager and make a reasonable offer. He'll take it.

I paid $899. I think with tax it came to something like $960. The two cracked bricks gave me a bit of a bargaining chip.

I didn't get it in my house myself. I had two neighbors with me. One was probably about 140lbs... He was on top with me slowing dissent down the stairs and one was 250 who volunteered to be on the bottom for some odd reason. I weigh in at 200. My larger neighbor and I could have done it, but it's not an amount of weight that you want to get away from you on the stairs. The smaller neighbor was being lifted by the stove when we were lowering it.

I was called off moving the old stove yesterday so I'll try to get working on it again tonight.

I bought my 13NC at HD back in Aug of 2007 $499.

i checked both lowes and home depot here in southern maine, both are carrying wood and pellet stoves year round now. They are offering no discount as these are no longer seasonal items. i wish they would go back to seasonal i was wanting to get a deal
