It's happened to me..I just leave it there.
What you don't want to do is shove wood in deeper trying to shut the door..I have read on here that it happens with poor results!
I'm surprised he could even see through the glass to see the wood against it.Leave it, it's a BK it's not like the glass is clean anyway.
Unless you try and stuff an 18 1/2" split inYou have no hope of burning that junk off the glass but after cleaning it off it will be slower to accumulate, and won't cover as much once you start burning hotter in the winter. Mine is pretty gunked up right now too.
Oh and wood on the glass is no problem so long as it is just barely touching with no wedge action, force, or even momentum from falling forward onto the glass. With proper north south loading as is recommended with the BK, you should never have a wood on glass issue.
