Splitter and Tractor Pictures

When I sold my old house I moved all my wood to my FIL's property anticipating that I would be burning wood soon enough. That day came recently with the install of my new Jotul so I've started bringing wood a truckload at a time to the new house.

My wood shed holds just over a cord which I built it while living in my old house. The old house had a very small back yard in a congested neighborhood and the wood shed was size appropriate. My new house has a large yard so it does look out of sorts but I wasn't leaving it for the new owners so I took it.

Some splits I had were on the large side so I was respiting some while stacking. The splitter is the venerable Husky 22 ton which I've had two years with zero issue's. The tractor is a John Deere X500 that I purchased this summer to maintain the new yard. It has a 48" mower deck along with the dump cart.

Also, I should have started the thread by saying Merry Christmas but I'm a little sleep deprived. Santa was up late and the kid's were up early. So Merry Christmas everyone.

You could always build a longer one right next to it down the road so yeah you did good by taking it..... Love my Huskee too, fireded it up the other day to make some kindling for a friend.....

Nice rig. It's always good to see a fellow GT owner using these machines to haul wood. They're a lot tougher than many folks think.

My brother gave us this older Murray Widebody GT a few years ago. Can't count how many cords of rounds I've carted out of the woodlot with it. It was an orphan, the brother fixed it up and put a bunch of new parts in it. I put the Ag tires and weights on... there's not much that will stop it.

Those little trailers are invaluable. Mine gets used for everything wood related, I use a golf cart to pull it.

looks like you are going to need a bigger shed. think i'd start working on it this spring. I used to use my craftsman and the trailer to bring around the firewood from the woodshed to the basement. now I use my front end loader on my JD 1026R tractor.

Always hauling with my GT, be it stone, bucks, splits....you name it. I like that 17yd trailer in this thread. Mine is only 10yd and wish it was bigger. Mow all summer, move snow all winter, haul stuff in between. Shocks me how much weight it can pull. Rear locker is awesome.

Here is my Agco-Allis set up for snow removal. It has hydraulic lift for front end attachments and mower deck. Also have a 42" blade. Mower deck is a 50" with mulching kit. Love this machine...

Nice tractor. My Deere has the locking rear axle and that was one big reason why I went with a 500 series tractor over the 300 series. Actually, after I took those pictures I got into some soft ground and the rear tire started spinning so I locked the rear axle and pulled out no problem.

Great setups guys! I had a cub cadet 1018 to do my heavy hauling. Did good up until hauling some red oak from the neighbors. Piston shattered. Was in a jam to get the wood so I rigged the trailer to my sport quad. (The things we do for firewood!!). Now my father has let me have his Polaris 800. Works fantastic but, I still need a new tractor to mow the grass.

I use an English Massey 35 (With an English Standard Diesel, not a Perkins) and a gas Massey 50 Hi crop for firewood and our heavier farming activities. A BCS 853 Diesel is coming this spring. A John Deere 1520 gas was also used this year in the woodlot to load the dumptruck with.

Wilhelm is that Cub the one with the 18 hp Briggs? My mom has one with 230 hrs on it and it blew up. Locked up tighter than, well you know... and it has plenty of oil. Tractor is in good shape but the new engine cost more than its worth. I'm trying to figure out something to use it for, if I could find a cheaper replacement engine that would be great. I could use it for firewood and chores around the house. Don't need the deck I have a zero turn for mowing

That is exactly it, D8. Like you said it's not worth it to fix it. Mine is sitting behind the shed until I figure out a project for it.

Let me know what you come up with, hate to trash an otherwise decent tractor. It would be cool if you could put a Kawasaki or Honda in its place without costing an arm and a leg

I haul my firewood with a couple IH Cub Cadet 149s. They are powerd by 14hp Kohlers and hydrostatic drive with hydraulic lift. One is a '73, the other a '74.


I use a bio-mechanical splitter.
