I will be burning this weekend but other than that my wood stove getting very little use this year. I hate this weather pattern and hoping for a change sometime in January.

I'm looking forward to saving a half-year's worth of wood if this keeps up.

I'm working 3pm-3am this week at work so seeing the family has been minimal. My wife did catch me before work yesterday and asked for a fire for the overnight. After twisting my arm 
.. I had the stove cruising at 500 when I left at 2pm. When I came home this morning 3:30 I opened the door and bam heat smacks me in the face 77
. I open the door to the utility room which is basically an outdoor room minus the wind to cool it down. Head off to bed around 5am and when I wake up its still 74 in this joint. Needless to say I'm right there with you bring on the cold!!

You'd like it out here. We never owned a snow shovel up until a few years ago. It does a lot more duty as a garage dustpan than a shovel. It does snow here but mostly up in the higher elevations.
I do, but I'm quickly realizing they're a thing of the past. And even though it's officially not winter yet on the calendar, normally we have snow by Thanksgiving up here. When it gets near the end of December I feel why even bother. The new forecast through March is out, and it's for the same pattern to continue for the rest of this winter.

The only thing i can say good about this weather pattern is thank god!! its not happening in the summer! I wouldn't like 100 degree plus during the day with high dew points. PS! I wouldn't Worry about those El Ninos! they always happen! and we were due for a big one.There will still be some winter and wood stove use.PS! Im a weatherman and i don't put much faith in any long range weather predictions.

Long range weather forecasts...as soon as it changes, they will be differentI have both stoves going tonight cause the wind is eating my house alive but I will take it! So far no heat $ to the gas or electric companies so not complaining

Did three break in fires and have burned a total of 23 days (including break-ins) this season, vs. 40 days last year on this date.
Its going to be almost 70 here on Christmas.
The new stove plus the almost unprecedented warm spells in the East so far is going to help extend my wood stash.
Some of mine is 4 yrs. old, some 3, more 1 1/2 and I'm finding some very, very dry stuff mixed with lots of oak from the last 2 dump truck loads I bought in Sept. (from a preacher). From bottom of his pile. He sells about 40 truck loads a year.
Its going to be almost 70 here on Christmas.

I've been keeping a journal for 25 years and I have a simple symbol for when I'm burning.
I won't start a fire unless I know it'll run for a few days so tabulating is very simple.
I also note precipitation, unusually hot and cold temps, when I apply Revolution to my cats, and even when I grill.
That's how I know how much more efficient my Weber grill is compared to the departed Kenmore.
Over 45 uses per tankfull of propane.
One line entry each day with more notes about significant events on the back of each page.
30 here now, probably our low; 75 in LR/K where the stove is located.
Burning a little less wood than normal . . . but every day for some time now I've had at least a couple burns . . . and mostly it's been going close to 24/7 for the past month or so.
As for "Where is Winter?" and "I miss Winter" or "It's not like the Old Days." Today is the first official day of Winter . . . we still have plenty more days to go before I admit that Winter was a complete bust . . . that said . . . my wife has always said it seems like Mother Nature has a way of balancing things out and last Winter was a true doozy in terms of both snow and length. As much as I like winter as an avid snowmobiler, I can wait for the snow to come . . . there are still plenty of other things I can do to bide my time.

Well here it's wintery enough for me. High of -1.5C at my place today. And similar if not colder for the last week or so. The stove is earning it's keep.
Been burning 24/7 since Nov 9th to keep the 3 females in the house happy. I did let it go out one day to clean the chimney.

It's 57 here right now, going to low 40s tonight so I may burn a little Cherry in the AM. Baking some stuff tomorrow in the oven, so that may be all the heat we need for a couple days with even milder temps on the way. I like to think of it as adding wood to my stacks.
