Have been getting so much great info here at hearth.com

Was hoping to convince the wife we need a wood boiler.

Looks like I may settle for wood or pellet fireplace insert.

See many suggestions for storage tanks. Wondering if any tried using a small above ground pool????

Not sure how you would insulate or if it could handle the heat

Some folks have basically done that, though far smaller in diameter. You need to make an EPDM liner, as vinyl won't hold up at all. Any outdoor storage needs enormous amounts of insulation, and the cover needs the most.
