Storing On Deck Pellets in Trash Can

I have an uninsulated 3 season porch where I keep my ready to go pellets. The majority are stored in the garage but I keep a stack on the porch. Last year I would typically drag a bag out to the stove and fill it up completely, or as much as I could. My better half can't lift a full bag.

Would it be okay to dump a few bags in a typical outdoor type trash can and leave it on the porch so she could bring them in a small bucket at a time if needed? The trash can is plastic and has a lid but I wouldn't consider it air tight.

Neither are your pellet bags. Most of the time they have some sort of small holes in them. As long as they will stay dry in there, you should be fine.

I have been using pellet stoves since 2008 . I did not want my wife lifting 40 pound bags . My solution was two pellet buckets that I bought at a stove shop. When there empty I refill them . They hold 20 pounds each. Makes it easier for her,when I am not around.

We actually have a huge plastic storage container that can hold about 5-6 bags of pellets and like you, have a bucket that we use to refill the hopper.
I think you will be ok.

how much CAN she lift? maybe something like a couple cereal tupperware containers is big enough to get an hour or two dumped in at a time. fill 5 of those up for her or something

my wife CAN lift the bags, but is knocked up!..so..i dont allow her. The indoor pellets we store in a plastic tote, and use a little bucket to put em in the stove. When im filling it up, i go grab a bag and HOOF it in there. Keep em dry and you'll be good to go id say.
