Hi, I need to touch up my door on my stove. Is there any difference between Stove Bright and Rutland flat black? One is $6.45 on ebay and the other is like double that price. Is all stove paint the same in this case? Thanks in advance.

STOVEBRIGHT flat black is typical flat black paint that most stove manufactures use at the factory. its 1200 degree paint, and also is a exact match for lots of stoves. If your painting the entire stove, and the temp rating was the same, i dont see any diference. If your touching up, i would stick with stove bright. But be carefull, stove bright offers flat black, metallic black, stove pipe black, and duravent black. Most manufactures use flat, and quad i know uses metallic.

Thanks for the info. You wouldn't happen to know what Regency uses? I'm assuming flat black, but any info you might have would be helpful. Thanks

I used 2 colors of stovebright on my stove to paint it and it has heldup bomber. Sunset gold and something brown. Just came out of a can

I think regency's are satin black. I could be wrong though I installed a used one a couple months ago but it could have been painted afterwards.

What about on the door? The black on the door looks to be a little flatter looking than that of the stove body.

The Regency cast wood doors are also painted with StoveBright Metallic Black paint. The colour just looks a little different because the cast is a different texture than the flat steel.

Thanks. I got two 12oz cans for $24.50 delivered. So I guess I'm all set in the paint dept. for awhile...

for small touch up, you can sray the paint in the cap and use a q tip to paint it on.

Thats a good idea.

My door got some of that messy grey never-seize on it from the latch mechanism when the installer was putting it on. I was told that it would "burn off". It hasn't, so I will clean it with some thinner, and paint over it, no big deal.
That never-seize is messy stuff. Once you get it on something, it gets all over everything.
