Hello All,

I've got a super27 insert. Almost I'd say it has pretty close to 30ft of chimney. I already pluged the boost air inlet with a SS bolt. Still feels like my fire control is limited. Close the draft and it doesn't burn quite hot enough. Open it about 1/2 inch and it burns too hot, like it's over firing.

Wondering if I could install a SS band around the chimney cap to choke of the holes? I'm thinking this will slow the draft buy restricting the flow. Looking for some opinions on this idea.

Yes, a 30' liner will cause the stove to overdraft. The Super is an easy breathing stove to start with. This will probably take a damper to be rigged above the flue collar. There is a long thread about this remedy for a Summit. It shows the effect of strong draft and fix using instrumentation.

It's impossible for me to install a damper since it's a insert. The flue is behind an old masonry fireplace.

Tough but not always impossible, see that thread. Flue collar is the place.

Indeed, hard, but not impossible in many cases, depending on the lintel height of the fireplace. The thread in the link I provided shows one going in.

I've ordered this part from the local fire place store. Last one they had available. Let's see how this draft blocker works. Obviously a known issue by PE.....but fail to notify the customer.

jstnvllnv thanks for posting. Interesting solution. I haven't seen this before. Did they have it in stock?
Please document this installation in detail. Having pictures of the install and directions could be helpful for others with this problem if this solution works well for you.
