not much, at all! About 1 to 2 inch accumulation. very slow build up ,corn snow or sleet.
no one on the roads. Probably turn to icy rain & rain, later in the day.

But ,I hear it is susposed to be much worst in mass, vermont, new hampshire & maine.
So, how is northern new england fairing so far?

In southern ct it is a big non event.

Every one is all scared, hiding out ,safe & warm in their houses by claims of up to 20 inches of
snow & the reality is 2 inchs of snow, then sleet & freezing rain & rain.

No snow outside Gettysburg, Pa.

Freezing rain, 1.2 in. in the rain guage, all is coated in 1/4 inch of ice.

Power has been off and on, currently on.

Oslo reload is done, waiting for it to reach 600F, then shut her down.

Wife in bed, sippin' coffee.

All is well.

Light snow here in central Maine @ 7:45 am, maybe close to an inch so far.

A fizzle in Rochester NY. They kept ratcheting up the estimates past couple of days till right before the storm, then started chickening out and scaling back. It started 2 1/2 hours later than predicted and it's just been freezing rain most of the night here. It's pouring rain in some parts of the southern tier. They say we're going to get a bunch more snow too, but I'm not convinced. It's still pretty freaky weather, though. 17 degrees F. and rain! Zoiks!

"Weather" is a collosal money maker for news agencies and the bigger the storm the more money they make cause we all tune in. Hurricanes equal reporters leaning into the gale at the beach. Snowstorms equal reporters getting wasted by snowplows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUREsKL2pK8

So I'm not saying they oversold this thing, but so far it's a dud in Rochester.

Enough with the hysterical : "STORM CENTER !!!!"
Please: no more "NOR'EASTER"no such animal, never was. It's "northeaster".
Now, I'm going out for bread and milk, bread and milk, bread and milk................

Six inches overnight here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They're predicting 12" to 16" before it's all over around around 7:00 this evening. High winds through the day today will mean lots of drifting. My wife, who's a teacher, hopes for a day off tomorrow.
Chip

they seem to get 10 wrong for every 1 they get right predicting. I would think the way our station is so proud of their "Super Doppler Storm Tracker 5000" they would have a better history predicting big storms. We got about 1 inch last night and is windy right now. Snow is somewhat heavy at times since 7:30 this morning so maybe we will get some.

Maybe 5 inches so far? Maybe 10 with both storms together. Maybe we'll get more tonight.

Matt in NY where the Mohawk and Hudson come together.

Snowing pretty hard here now. We have several inches on the ground and it's still early. We'll see how they did on the estimates late tonight.

Oh ya, the Englander is cranking out the heat!!!!

Here in VT it's still a non event. There's only about 6 inches out there. Not even enough to plow.

But a few years ago my wife and I had to go to Edison, NJ on business. We were staying in the hotel and the pretty boy on WABC named Sam Champion was all in a tizzy about the coming "winter event". He went all wild eyed and breathlessly announced "We might see THREE (pause) INCHES of snow!! And this clown was serious! If he's still there I guess he's saying the world is ending.

It's a snowstorm. These things happen every winter.

9 am 8 inches on the deck and hood of the truck and still snowing at same rate at 6:30 am when i took the little lady to work there was about 3 inches ..to hear the news stations we may not live to see the end

We already got that storm... over about 1-2 weeks we got I think almost 2ft here. Some of it was snow, then light rain, which froze overnight. Then more and more snow on top of that. Its pretty interesting.

Well a few inches of ice and about 12 hours and counting of 40+ MPH gusts is not really a non-event....and I do not recall anyone calling for 20" here?? There is a fine line between getting 2 and 10 inches in many of these storms and they cannot be predicted with accuracy to the zip code....

A very fine day to not have to leave the house for sure....going to light the fireplace soon...

Big time whiteout here - a good 6 inches on top of the 9 we already had and blowing hard. Not worth using the snowblower (at least it seems so).....have to hunker down.....

It took me 15 minutes to shovel the door out, and get a path for the dog to poop and pee in!

Check the radar - looks like it is still up in the air as to how the storm will behave in western ma (northern part)....but it looks like an ice and rain even in CT (south).

About 2-3 inches of snow from yesterday and today. Winds up a bit with the trees blowing around. The power went out around 7 am and one thing about having a heat pump and insert. No electricity, no heat. Put a couple more pieces of wood in the insert, and have a bit of heat coming. But since it doesn't really put out much when working it doesn't help.

Power back on at 10 ish. Heat up from 62 in the house. It doesn't always pay to live in the country:-)

ct wood &pellet;burner,

I'm suprized with the wind that you are having, all there is here,in waterbury, is 5 to 9 mph breeze.
What part of ct are you in?

I do recall the forcaster saying there could be 20 inch accumulation in some areas before this is over. I think the key words are (in some areas). Sure not here.3 inch tops.

I forgot to type the 3 words (in some areas) in my earlier post.

But, the forcaster didnt say what areas, either.

edit

I see from webmaster's map, thanks for the map, web master!, that my area of ct is clear
& that is a suprise because the sky is sure cloudy & gray, but very light snow/sleet & little wind , only 3 in accumulation. Almost all the storm is north of me.

But , might still get some of that stuff to the west of Ct taking a more southerly track later today or tonight. It ain't over yet!

Well, just returned for using the old Ariens (snoblower).......pretty decent storm considering it is still fall.

The sidewalks are at full snowblower height) 22-24", and walking through the lawn to get the gas from the shed, it almost reached my knees. Hard to walk. I'd guess almost 18" total from the two - still snowing, but not accumulating snow....

you gotta get a honda with a track and snowblow your way out to the shed!!!!!
http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/snotra.asp

i am gonna wait till later ... we are supposed to get freezing rain so if i clear it now will have some serious ice later
but i see my neighbors out and i wanna go out so bad

Those trackers are the bomb, but we have (as you know) a lot of years like last year where the blower does not even get used. So I didn't even go for the heated handles......no regrets. Yeah, I'm going out soon to blaze a path to the shed and also a run for the dog. The drive is done, so now it is all optional recreation!

I think my Ariens is 8HP or more, and cast iron bore, so it seems to do a decent job for the price (950)......If I had a longer drive or wanted to do the neighborhood I'd get one of those trackers with a little "cab" or hood around it.

I left a little white on the drive in case we get the ice - my theory being that if I take it down to black, the ice will stick better....

Non event here. Maybe 5" plus sleet.
Glad no freezing rain-they were saying 1/2" possible, which means outages.
I'm about to go downstairs and see the Jets kill the Pats; or, not.

Edit: Just had a couple of momentaries. Should have kept my big mouth shut (re: the game, that won't make a difference, lol)

About 12 inches now snows letting up. Gusts to 40 mph, max driving speed on plowed roads 25-30 MPH. Blowing and drifting.
Will it rain before Christmas to wash this stuff away?? Or will it stay white??
Time to get out the (broken link removed to http://www.dap.com/product_details.aspx?product_id=20) caulking for the window drafts.
