  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

Loose because there is more air space between wood pieces. Same logic as, will wood dry faster in the round or split? The more air space around the wood the faster it will dry.

Depends if wind can get through the pile. No wind makes for hard drying.

Stacked single row no question

Most wind,.most sun, best top.cover wins.

The pallet may have more space but it also has more wood far from the outside edges than a single or double stack (with 3-4" between them).

I go.for stacked.

Stacked, and top covered. No dangling sides (save that for winter).

The less I have to move it, the better :)
