Ha ha! Nope, that's only for just in case I find a couple little pieces (you never know). The trailer took the day off and stayed home.

Very nice! I've only seen the mountains once, when I was about 19. Didn't own a camera then. Would like to see them again someday.

North - thanks for the mountain shots. I grew up in Alaska, and miss the mountains terribly.
I was driving through Maine yesterday - saw mount Katahdin in the distance. It is just short of a mile high. I climbed it with some friends about 20 years ago.

Quads - are you submiting some photos for the qood pile contest? I think a reguar old rank in the woods, well checked and greyed, is a pretty site. Maybe with a chicadee or squirrell pirched on top....

The woodpile patrol cats keep the birds and the wood pretty far apart! But I do have LOTS and LOTS of woodpile pictures. I think I even have one somewhere of a chipmunk perched on top of one of the piles, before the cats came dragging him up to the house one day.

Thanks! I've had a lot of dogs, but Snoopy is my first beagle. If I had known how much personality beagles have, I would have had one years ago. Here's a couple more pictures of her and Goldie in the Best Friends thread.

Woody will eventually take down this oak if he keeps pecking! Supposedly, this Pileated Woodpecker was the bird chosen for the cartoon Woody Woodpecker.

i saw a woodpecker in my yard 2 days ago looking for food on the ground. looked it up and it was a northern flicker, had the red spot on its head and the black spot on its chest. i noticed its yellow under-wing color while it flew towards the window. pretty cool looking bird. this is what it looked like though its not the bird i saw.

We have the flickers and the pileated woodpeckers here too. The flickers are real pretty. They eat suet from the feeder and also like cracked corn. They don't seem to care much for sunflower seeds though.

I had never seen a pileated woodpecker until 5 or so years ago. There never was any around here before then. It's kind of nice to see them now, they are a really neat bird and surprisingly big for a woodpecker. They don't come to the feeders, but they like the dead oak wilt trees that I let stand. One built a nesting cavity in the middle of the woods and raised young a couple years ago. I like listening to the woodpeckers hammering on a branch, but when a pileated woodpecker starts hammering, you know it!
