ummm?
wow?
really? they think i'm going to sit and babysit this thing?
and no-one thought that maybe a hinge and latch for filling it might be a good idea?

It needs a TV on top and a fridge full of beer along side. The deluxe model would have cable TV and premium beer in the fridge. If you're gunna be chained to it the necessities have to be there to!

Don't forget the bathroom facilities!

With US Stoves having a auto self feeding stove that needs no batch feeding why this stove? There's been someone selling pellet baskets to put in stoves or fireplaces on CL. Some interesting homemade self feeding rocket stoves on Youtube. I am about 75% done with making one with cement and clay tile flue.

I want my 4 minutes back.

If I find myself needing heat without electricity, I'll buy a wood stove.

Would have to quit my day job to keep the flames going to warm the house it seems.
long ways from Fill it and forget it.

Aw c'mon. If that is the most boring thing you've seen on youtube you aint spendin enough time in front of the computer!
Ya I guess . At least it has no where for burnback! It's a safety feature having no hopper lol...

You are the hopper! Brilliant! Kinda like my design for a car that runs on oatmeal:

Allow 2-6 hours for digestion before firing her up.

Seriously, though, what's the motivation for designing an appliance like that? Just cashing in on the "green" design demand?

I spent years babysitting a wood stove having to refill it 2-3 times daily. This thing is far worse . The user would have to time the refills so he could eat and go to the can when necessary.

The whole "green" premice of this product is wrong. Any electricity that a stove would use is ultimately dissipated in heat, so it's also contributing to the total heat output in the room.

A solution in search of a problem...

Even a damn 'professional' video can't distinguish 'shoot' from a friggin 'CHUTE'!!! Grrrrrrrr. I want to SHOOT the guy who doesn't know what a CHUTE is!

This might be good for a cabin depending on how long it will burn on one load. What it really cries out for is a air-tight hopper above the burn pot, as is used in some coal stoves. It would just keep letting more pellets flow out the bottom but since the top uses an air-tight lid, there is no burn back up into the hopper.

Been busy, got back on net tonight, that system is from ireland.Looks like their gov. spends as much money on gov. grants as we do,what a waste. If they/we were in greenland and huddled around the fire, might be great. The wiseway seems fine, still working out the issues, the other gravity fed stove(us?breckwell?) is not gravity fed, research it,have to go over and move the cam/pull the lever, shift the?,research it.The only gravity fed stoves(and non electric) ae the wiseway and the tent stoves.Has been tried since the mid 80's.Had a chance to buy an old trager grav stove, had been used for many years, but was 300 miles away, should have bought it for a collectors item!Back in the day trager was on the ball, but people forget you need a full flue system, excellent draft, and if conditions change, you need to be there to adjust. Not like having a forced flue exhaust where it is safe.

The mid 70's GM vehicles had a spring operated damper at the end of the exhaust manifold, when the motor was cold it was closed, when starting a cold motor the damper forced hot exhaust thru the intake manifold and helped warm the carburetor. I wouldn't think it would be to difficult the have a similar concept inside a stove that opened a damper and allowed pellets to flow when the fire was low. The reaction time would be an issue to resolve thou.

Just watching TV and on one of the shopping channels they are flogging ethanol stoves.
Now they make this pellet stove look like a winner. THey keep raving on about how great they are and you only need to top them up every 4-6 hours.
They even come with 10 litres of fuel to get you going straight away.
They dont mention the fuel price at all. But a bit of poking around suggests it is about $5/litre. The 14,000 btu stove uses 1/2 litre/hr.
Now I am no mathematician but that sounds scary expensive to me.
Still I must be an idiot coz the TV guys keeps saying they are selling fast and get in before they run out.....
Pass me the phone hon, we can't afford to miss out on this bargain.
I have seen what you are talking about(inside open flame units),woundered about this last year.Even have a stove repair guy showing this on this site.Over here they are illegal(without special permit)no home insurance company would permit it,makes no sense, but the beauty of our country is you can own it,but may not be legal to use it.

Anybody keep up with the wood pellet products patio heater out of Oregon that is non electric and hands off gravity fed?

I remember those cars! That damn valve would ALWAYS get stuck and you'd have to spray it with graphite based lube.

I have seen the wiseway in action.

These area sweet deal for a second stove that can give you heat in a power outage for sure..

Sort of an odd looking duck, but certainly well thought out.

I still have the up and out chimney left in the family room from when I built the new hearth.

The wiseway could be wheeled into place, the stack connected and a fire built in a matter of a few minutes.

Granted, it would not deliver the same heating as the Big Whit with the blowers running, but when its Snowing sideways and the power goes out, this would be a reassuring little beast to have sitting ready to go.

Here are some pix of the hearth area.

The old pellet flue pipe is sticking out of the wall, and goes out and up another 10 ft or so
The white board to the left of the stove is in a perfect spot to sit the little Wiseway

A temp vent can be hooked to the existing pipe and then to the stove during a power outage and all good.

The vent would not need to be sealed with silicone as the natural draw of the stack will keep a negative pressure in the flue.

If it were an issue, a quick wrap of high heat tape will snafu any leaks.

Once the outage is over, simply unhook and roll the little Wiseway to a storage spot until needed again.

I am very interested

I have done the gen set thing.

The gen will run about 2 hours on a fuel fill up.

This sucks while trying to get some sleep.

The long uphill stack will not likely be an issue even with the bends

over 10 feet of good rise is going to get a good draft going regardless.

We ran our Quad on the gen set for 3 days during the winter of 08 and it was a royal pain.

The stove would run, heat the house up, then shut off and during that time the gen is just wasting fuel.

I am thinking this little stove would be sweet, and require little to get it off and running.

A little solar panel would run a couple small fans to help circulate the air

The newer inverter generators are not that fuel hungry. I was checking out a 2200 Ryobi at HD on sale for $550. Will idle down and run for over 8 hours at 400 watts on the 1 gallon tank. 3 year warranty. Anyone have a Home Depot discount code?

The discount code is 'I want the Veteran's Discount'. :) Works for me.

Well Snow make sure you post pics of the Wisser. THen you need to run some weird stuff through it so I know whether I should get one. Generators are like welders; have got real good over the last few years. THe biggest prob we have with gennys is having them pinched from outside the house.
.45 caliber theft detector works real good! Just need a shovel to bury the scum.

No guns here in Oz. I know you guys like em which is a definite difference between Aussie and US.
Unfortunately we now have something in common, its called Ice and I aint talkin bout frozen water. It is really making a mess of people. THe inventor of the battery angle grinder has a lot to answer for.
That s#$@ been around here for a long time. Had training for how to handle the hazardous material in the early 90's. Was a good reason for moving away from the metro area. Neighbor's family was locked in basement and robbed at gun point. Two dogs on our property usually give us warning of something creeping around.

Am I the only one wondering why club music was playing in the background?
