We installed an Enviro Boston insert in early June. So we haven't burned yet. Can't wait for weather to cool down. For those with the Boston, where do you put the thermometer?
I find the best place to take the temperature to know when to adjust the air is in the middle top a few inches in front of the collar. Kind of where the two pieces of metal are screwed together in the pic.
I usually use an IR gun pointed at that spot. I also have a magnetic thermometer on the side, behind the door. I need a flashlight to read it and I also notice this registers much cooler for a long time than the top. Not so useful for controlling the stove at start up. I just peek at it for later in the burn - but mostly just if I misplaced the IR gun under a seat cushion.
