I have several Thermoworks products: 3 Thermapens, BBW thermometer, IR gun, pocket IR thermometer (was free with BBW thermometer).

The infrared thermometer is the best tool to get to know your stove. I used mine heavily for the first three years, now I almost never do.

It's now mostly an expensive laser pointer to play with the cat, but still very useful for checking the temperature of surfaces, and sits at the ready next to the stove for occasional use.

We just bought a different one to take our own temps, during the covid era. Goodbye rectal thermometer!
